A poem for Mayday
May 1st
Happy birthday
to the dispossessed of history,
to the dispossession of the present,
happy birthday on the dole,
in the season of Marx’s sun,
in the epoch of poor social hygiene.
If you can’t feed yourself
I will put bread in your mouth
because I love you,
let me know what you need.
